Alcohol Services - What We Do

Our alcohol services provides a range of support for people with all kinds of alcohol-related problems.

Services we provide include the following:

Alcohol Services

Brief Treatment

If you think you might be drinking too much but aren’t sure, and want to explore this further, you may benefit from ‘brief treatment’. This is designed to help you make a decision about what, if anything, you would like to do. This therapy usually lasts for about three sessions. This may be all that you need; however you may want to continue with some additional treatment.

More In-Depth Support

It might be that more in-depth, structured support will help. We provide a range of therapies that focus on exploring thoughts and behaviours, learning new skills and involving supportive family members or friends to help you make the changes you want.

Support And Onward Referral For Other Problems

Developing a healthy lifestyle, including hobbies, activities, further education or employment is an important part of maintaining changes. Whatever your needs, our therapists will be able to put you in touch with the right people, and can help with a range of problems.

Group Sessions

We run a variety of groups that will cover different topics.  Many people find that groups are a good way of meeting people with similar problems, and getting support from others in this way helps people to stay motivated about making changes.

Home Detoxification

People who are unable to stop drinking due to having unpleasant withdrawal symptoms can benefit from our home detox service. Our detox nurses will provide medication and support in clients’ own homes. Therapies will then be offered after the detox has finished.

Support For Significant Others

People who are affected by a partner or family member’s drinking can also get support from us; we will provide advice and support to those who are finding it hard to cope with someone else’s drinking.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The treatment that you are offered will be tailored to meet your needs, and will be completely based on what you want to do.  You may decide that you just want to cut down your drinking.  Others may want to have a break from drinking completely.  Whatever your goal, we will work with you to help you reach it.

If you are currently receiving support from other agencies and would like to receive support from us, your worker can pass your details on to us.
