In 2008 we were awarded the South Wales Drug Intervention Programmes contract for Rapid Prescribing, covering a large geographical area. In delivering a comprehensive drug treatment service we work with CRi in the east (Merthyr through to Barry) and G4S in the West (Bridgend to Swansea).

The prescribing service is one of the largest in Wales and we are working with commissioners on a new methadone dispensing system. The system uses Iris recognition which creates an extra level of safety for clients coming to get their medication. The system is very user friendly and is not invasive, (that is there are no bright lights shining into the eye).  Another important aspect of the new system is that there is an integration of a care management tool imbedded with the dispensing system.

Our prescribing services challenges people to look at treatment as a six month service. With our partner agencies we ask clients where they would like to be in six months time. The majority set a goal of being illicit and prescribed drug free. In a carefully managed treatment plan we work with the client in setting out what that would look like, with clear goals and objectives they will need to meet along the way.
