The Newport base, working with the University of Wales, Newport, is now taking social work students on practice placements, giving them invaluable insight into substance misuse.
Newport Placements for Social Work Students
Since 2009 we have had 5 students at different levels in their degree here on placements. This is an excellent placement for Social Services as it enables prospective social workers and understanding of substance misuse and the effects that it can have on all members of a family, and the community. It also raises levels of awareness and empathy that they will hopefully take forward into their professional lives.
We are also now represented on the student selection and interview panels and practice assessor panel at the university in Wales, Newport.
