Alfriston Day Centre
Alfriston, which opened in 1949, has been a successful centre for supporting the elderly. In 1998 the centre was threatened with closure but due to a campaign by the Surrey Comet it was saved the following year. Kaleidoscope, supported by the senior citizens and the local community, took over the management of the project with the desire to maintain its friendly and homely atmosphere.
The centre is very successful and now even opens once a month on a Saturday and a Sunday. Diane Double, the manager of the centre, ensures there are regular activities and outings for this unique community.
